Rumskulls On Film
December 5 and 6, 2000
As part of the filming for "The Quest For Captain  Kidd" for The Discovery Channel & Compass Light, we were hired by VANDERPOOL FILMS to be jury members at Kidd's trial, and as crowd at his hanging.
The trial script was taken from the original transcripts, and covers Kidd's  own failed attempt to defend himself, without benefit of his papers, logs, or counsel. The trail scenes were reinforced with scenes filmed on the Lady Washington.
The hanging was true to historic reports, with the rope breaking at the first try, and his refusal to confess to the prison ordinary. In attendance are representatives of the Dutch East India Company The Prison Ordinary/episcopal  priest , The hangman, the Admiralty Marshall with the Silver Oar  and various townspeople come to view the hanging
